Moving Out of Dubai? When to Arrange Appliance Collection

Your flight is booked, the cupboards are empty, and the final cleaning is next. There is still one awkward detail: the washing machine needs collecting before you return the keys.
Selling appliances before moving out of Dubai is easier when you plan backwards from handover. Arrange the quote and any inspection first. Then coordinate disconnection, building access and collection, leaving room for a delay.
Same-day availability can help, but it should not be the only plan holding your move together.
Start with the handover date
Write down when you must return the property. Add your departure date if it is earlier, along with cleaning and utility arrangements.
Next, identify which appliances you intend to sell. Check the inventory and purchase records, and clarify uncertain ownership with the landlord or agent. Do not assume that every appliance in the kitchen is yours to remove.
This is especially useful when you replaced something during the tenancy. Settle what should remain before offering the replacement for sale.
Use a timetable with some breathing room

The schedule below is a planning example, not a required lead time or collection guarantee. Adjust it to your building and the buyer’s availability.
| Suggested timing | Action | What should be agreed |
|---|---|---|
| Around one to two weeks before handover | List appliances and request offers | Items, condition, location and likely collection dates |
| Several days before collection | Confirm the buyer and building requirements | Access, inspection, specialist work and collection scope |
| Before the last planned use | Arrange preparation for each appliance | Food storage, laundry, draining or defrosting as applicable |
| On collection day | Complete the agreed checks and handover | Final accepted offer, payment and removal record |
| Before returning the keys | Check the cleared areas | Cleaning, leaks, remaining items and any access issues |
Where possible, avoid placing collection, cleaning and key handover in one tight window. A late vehicle or access problem then has less room to disrupt everything else.
Separate the quote from the final inspection
An initial quote may depend on photographs and your description. Ask whether the buyer also needs to inspect the appliance while it is connected and operating.
If they do, schedule that before disconnection or utility deactivation. A disconnected machine may be difficult to demonstrate on collection day.
For pricing questions, read what affects your used appliance’s resale value. Once the value discussion is underway, focus your move-out plan on dates and responsibilities.
Tell the buyer about any change in condition after the quote. For example, report a new error message rather than leaving it for the collection team to discover.
Coordinate utilities with testing and cleaning
Check when electricity and water are scheduled to stop. These services may still be needed for an agreed operating check or your remaining household tasks.
DEWA’s official move-out service lets customers specify a requested move-out date and time. Check its current process when arranging your own account closure.
Plan the appliance inspection around those arrangements. Do not rely on the supply remaining active after the requested cutoff.
For a move outside Dubai, use the relevant utility provider’s instructions. The same schedule will not necessarily apply across all emirates.
Ask building management about access
Contact reception or facilities management before confirming the vehicle’s arrival. Ask whether this particular collection needs an access approval, lift booking or service-entrance arrangement.
Explain that bulky appliances are being removed. Share the agreed window and ask what information the collection team must provide.
Useful questions include:
- Which entrance should the vehicle use?
- Is there a designated loading area?
- Does the service lift need booking?
- Are there restricted collection times?
- Who arranges any required access documents?
Requirements vary by building. A neighbour’s previous move is useful context, but confirmation from management is better.
Agree who prepares and disconnects each appliance

Collection and specialist disconnection are different tasks. Ask exactly what the buyer’s team includes before assuming everything happens during one visit.
For a refrigerator, plan how you will use or move the remaining food. Arrange emptying, defrosting if needed, and preparation according to the appliance instructions and collector’s requirements.
For a washer or dishwasher, ask who handles the water and drain connections. Tell them if taps are inaccessible or you know of a leak.
For built-in, hardwired or gas-connected equipment, arrange suitable professional assistance. Do not remove fixed connections or pull appliances from cabinetry just to meet a collection deadline.
Keep loose shelves, racks, trays and accessories together. Label them if several appliances are leaving in the same collection.
Send one complete booking message
Put the essential information in one message so the buyer can confirm the job clearly:
- Appliances and exact model numbers.
- Condition photographs and known faults.
- Location, floor and lift availability.
- Preferred collection date and latest workable date.
- Property handover deadline.
- Whether an operating inspection is still needed.
- Disconnection work required and who will handle it.
- Building access arrangements already confirmed.
If several kitchen items are involved, our guide to selling kitchen appliances together explains the broader sale process. Include a separate description for each unit when requesting collection.
Keep a backup window and a handover record
Ask whom to contact if the collection time changes. Confirm any rescheduling terms before the day, especially if you have a flight soon afterwards.
When the team arrives, settle any inspection-related changes before accepting the sale. Follow the agreed payment arrangement and keep a record of the transaction.
After removal, check the cleared space before final cleaning. If anything needs attention, you still have a chance to arrange it before returning the keys.
Questions sellers often ask
Can I arrange collection on my final day?
You can ask, but availability and access need confirmation. A separate collection window gives you more options if something changes.
Should I disconnect everything before the buyer arrives?
Confirm the inspection sequence first. Then arrange disconnection and preparation with the appropriate person for each appliance.
Does free pickup include built-in removal?
Do not assume it does. Ask which tasks are included and whether specialist work needs a separate arrangement.
Arrange collection around your move
Contact SellUsedAppliances.ae with your appliance details and handover deadline. Ask AB Jabbar to confirm acceptance, inspection requirements and an available collection window.
If time is short, include that in your first message. Clear dates help the team assess the request and help you plan the rest of your move.
